About APTuning: Authorized Audi, VW autoparts dealer
About Us

Automotive Performance Tuning LLC (APTuning) was formed in March of 2001 by true Volkswagen & Audi enthusiasts. Initially, our focus was specializing in performance-oriented parts installations and engine conversions. As the business matured, we included the retail sales of performance parts, and became distributors for many of the industry-leading Volkswagen & Audi performance parts manufacturers. Recently, our services expanded to offer routine service, maintenance, state safety, and emissions inspections. In turn, we now also provide a full line of OEM replacement parts and accessories.

With the launch of our new website, we hope to continue our superior customer service by including an online store complete with competitive prices, automated order confirmations, shipment notifications with tracking numbers, and printable invoices.

Our Staff

Simply put, our team lives to drive and modify Volkswagen & Audi automobiles. We collectively owned and modified many VAG vehicles over the years beginning with Michael Newman’s extensively modified, pristine green 1980 Scirocco S. When the car was completed in the mid 1990’s, it sported a 2.0L 16V block with custom JE pistons and a big-valve ported/polished 8V head with the exhaust ports match ported to a Supersprint header. An Autotech Magnacharger kit fed the engine with a direct port nitrous kit plumbed into the intake manifold. The Scirocco also had many other retro fitted parts from later VW’s on both the interior and exterior that made it a show favorite.

On the Mark III front, Michael then moved to a 1998 GTI VR6 which demanded a turbo upgrade. Later, the GTI was returned to normal aspiration, but a direct port nitrous kit was installed to provide an alternative power upgrade.

Next, a 2002 GTI 1.8T was added to the line-up and it immediately received an APR Stage III turbo upgrade. Although the power gains were exceptional, a single fogger 50 shot nitrous kit, custom geared transmission with an APTuning race spool and a set of 24.5” slicks were added to make the GTI track worthy. Later during the summer of 2004, Ian Case piloted the infamous red “APTuning GTI” into history by becoming the first front-wheel-drive Mark IV to run an 11 second quarter mile.

Presently the team is setting its sights on new records for ’05, and Michael is eager to tap the potential of his new 2004 Audi A4 1.8TQ Ultra-Sport.

Tom Dickinson brings a wealth of knowledge to the team and has owned an assortment of Mark II Golf’s and GTI’s typically boosted with direct port nitrous injection. A certified electronics specialist, Tom currently sports a 1991 Jetta GLI that he converted to Mark III VR6 specifications including suspension, brakes, a fully functional dash, and a nitrous kit is hidden for stealthy power.
